Dr Jason Waple has been caring for patients at Balwyn Dental Group for over 20 years. After graduating from Otago University in New Zealand he worked as a House Surgeon in a Wellington Hospital before moving to private practise in England for several years. He moved to Melbourne in 1997 to join Balwyn Dental Group and is now the principal dentist. Jason is known for his fun sense of humour which helps to puts his clients at ease. His nurse of twelve years is Patsy who is highly skilled and professional but also fun and a delight to be with.

Dr Chris Boyle
Dr Chris Boyle received his bachelor degree in Dental Surgery from the University of Edinburgh. He is a highly experienced dentist with an interest in Endodontics, Restorative and Cosmetic surgery.
Dr Boyle is passionate about working with each patient to achieve optimum dental health. He is also committed to continuing his professional development by frequently attending dental conferences in order to keep up-to-date with the latest technologies and advancements.
Dr Annu Phakey
Annu joined Balwyn Dental Group as an associate in 2020. She holds a Bachelor of Dental Surgery degree with Honours from the University of Sydney and has over 25 years of extensive experience working in private practice from Glasgow, Scotland to Melbourne. Annu’s professional interests range from undertaking preventive dentistry to reconstructive & cosmetic dentistry involving root canal treatments, crowns, bridges, porcelain veneers and implants to improve patient’s smiles. She also has a particular interest in preventative dentistry and sleep apnoea management in conjunction with a respiratory specialist using mandibular advancement appliances and splints. Annu has a great rapport with children and enjoys paediatric dentistry, having spent many years treating children from 2 years to adulthood.
Annu’s treatment satisfaction lies in achieving pain free & stress-free comprehensive dentistry, helping anxious & worried patients feel at ease at the dentist with her confident and caring nature. She takes pride in treating patients with the utmost dignity and respect, combining clinical excellence and empathising with the patients, listening and understanding their concerns, be it fear or anxiety over the complexity of treatment. Annu is passionate about preventive dentistry and believes that most dental problems can be best managed by prevention or resolved more simply in their early stages.
Outside of dentistry Annu enjoys spending time with her family and is a voracious reader. She has a penchant for food and loves cooking and travelling
Dr Doug Mckinlay
Originally from Edinburgh, Scotland, Dr Douglas Mckinlay graduated from the University of Glasgow with a Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) in 2011. He became a Member of the Faculty of Dental Surgery (MFDS) at the Royal College of Surgeons Edinburgh in 2013.
Douglas enjoys all aspects of restorative dentistry and has a keen interest in cosmetic dentistry, orthodontics, endodontics and more complex restorative treatments which require multiple disciplines. He also has taken a post as lecturer in general dentistry with the University of Melbourne Dental School. This includes teaching theory and clinical demonstrating with undergraduate students.
Douglas loves living in Melbourne and all it has to offer. He is a real foodie and enjoys exploring Melbourne’s restaurants. He keeps active by running, cycling, swimming and loves a round of golf.
Miss Sierra King
Sierra’s dental journey began in 2011 as a dental assistant, quickly attaining Certificates III and IV in Dental Assisting. Her desire to treat patients led her to become an Oral Health Therapist, completing her Bachelor Degree at Charles Sturt University in 2016.
Having completed her qualifications, Sierra has been helping patients of all ages with their oral health needs. Certainly, some of Sierra’s strengths are her ability to treat both adults and children with a very gentle and caring approach with high attention to detail.
She is very passionate about oral health, ensuring that all our patients are treated with the utmost care and dedication. As an oral health therapist Sierra provides our patients with routine gum care and maintenance, and also treats children, teens and young adults for preventative and restorative care.
Miss Lisa Nguyen
Ms. Lisa Nguyen graduated with a Bachelor of Oral Health (dual qualified dental hygiene/therapy degree) from The University of Melbourne in 2009, after which she returned and further her skills, knowledge and experience with a graduate certificate in dental therapy (advanced clinical practice program) in 2017. Lisa enjoys all aspects of dentistry and since graduated has worked in private general/specialist and community oral health clinics.
She is educated in the philosophy of minimal intervention dentistry with a strong emphasis on prevention and oral health promotion. She is committed to quality and client-focused care.
Outside dentistry, she’s an avid hiker, enjoys exploring new terrains and completing challenging hikes in all weather conditions, and hopes to set foot on all seven continents. She also enjoys gardening and rock climbing when she has time and exploring new places with her dog, Milo.
